One of the client's interviewing skills. This skill fokuses on the content of the client's message. The social worker uses paraphrasing to confirm the meaning the client has attached to the messages conveyed throughout the interview. The social worker restates what the client has said, in his or her own words. Paraphrasing elicits feedback from the client, confirming that the social worker understands the meaning of the client's message.

• can identify the basic principles of paraphrasing technique, introductory phrases, as well as mistakes in the use of paraphrasing technique;
• can recognize and describe the application of paraphrasing technique in a social worker's conversation with a client - in video analysis;
• is able to record the continuation of a conversation in a prepared written script, applying knowledge of paraphrasing techniques.
