Determine in advance the measurement of the glass in which your patient consumes the oral fluids and record the amount of fluid taken orally every 4-6 hours. 3. Empty and record the bladder if the patient has a urinary catheter 4. If the patient uses a bedpan to drain her urine, tell her not to spill her urine without measuring it 5. Before measuring, wear gloves and measure and record the patient's urine drainage, drainage from the nasogastric tube, or wound drainage every 4-8 hours. 6. Wash your hands after measuring.
